[Biography: Christos Karras was born in Trikala - Greece, in 1930. After brief studies at Panteion University (1948-1950), he registered at the School of Fine Arts (1951) from where he received his diploma (1955). In 1957, he studied the fresco technique at the School of Fine Arts in Paris under scholarship from the State Scholarships Foundation. He stays in Paris until1963,while in 1973 he left for New York with a scholarship from the Ford Foundation.In 1974 he returned to Greece and participated actively in the efforts to promote contemporary art . He founds, along with other artists, the group'Intersection'(1963) and the 'Association of Greek Artists' (1976). From 1955 until now, he has been in 75 solo exhibitions and has participated in numerous group exhibitions in Greece and abroad. Christos Karas was honored by the Academy of Athens in 2001 for his entire work and in 2007 he donated his house on Hydra for the creation of a foundation that will bear his name.]
